FAQs

Developmental, Copy, and Line editing occur before proofreading. Developmental editing looks at the overall structure of the book and makes sure the plot works. Copy editing looks for repeat words and phrases, or similar words. Line editing looks at sentence placement to make sure it is in order. And Proofreading is the final step checking for misspelled words and punctuation. All forms of editing correlate and overlap in some way.

Yes! I will not share your work. I am only interested in performing the task on which we agree upon. All documents will be kept in the safest way possible.

I am familiar with AP Style; Associated Press, APA Style; American Psychological Association, CMS; Chicago Manual of Style, MLA; Modern Language Association, and AMA; Manual of Style.

I have a general comprehensive editing checklist which changes depending on the document I receive. This ensures I am following best practices where your manuscript or work is concerned so I can always do my best. However, I am human, and I may miss something. If you think I have, contact me and we can discuss it.

I have three years of experience in proofreading, copy editing, line editing, and word auditing in the insurance industry. I worked five years as a transcriptionist for law enforcement and insurance companies, editing, proofreading, and writing for clarity. I have worked on other authors’ manuscripts developmental editing, copy/line editing, and proofreading. I studied under Phon Baillie of Edit Republic and received detailed training in proofreading, copy editing, line editing, and common style guides adding to the knowledge I already have.

I accept Paypal only. An invoice will be sent through Paypal.

Developmental, Copy/Line Editing, and Proofreading are charged by the word, giving you the benefit of knowing up front how much your manuscript will cost. For all other types of work, an hourly rate will apply. Most clients have a fixed budget in which I try to accommodate when possible. Don’t publish or turn in an unpolished work because of price. Please contact me and we can discuss your needs.

Simply contact me at the email address below. We can schedule a time that works for you and discuss your needs. Once we make an agreement, I will send you an agreement letter and invoice for a down payment of half of what is agreed upon.

For a refund of your down payment, you can cancel within 24 business hours. If you cancel any time after this, the down payment will not be refunded, and what I have completed during that time will be emailed to you, and the contract will end.
